What was your worst car audio mistake ...

Buying a pair of 10" infinities and then running them in a shared volume 3 cu ft box that I spent too much money on building, the whole setup cost way too much money and ****** ass. (was my first setup).

When I worked on my first Mercedes about 20 years ago, I screwed into the gas tank which was behind the back seat. Oops.

Was doing an install on a 98' explorer, over tightened the big three on the + alternator, cracked the plastic piece and had to get a whole new alternator then install it.. was one long install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I remember my first amp now. It was a Power Acoustik lt480/2 or something like that, rated @ 100x2

It cost me 189,99$+tax at a local audio shop, around 300$ with a 8ga wire kit

For a PowerAcoustik amp that was sellin like 39,99$ on the web //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Brand NEW!!!

I'm glad i discover this place, so it's not a mistake to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I paid over 300 for a kicker kx350.2 from circuit city when the kx line went from the black ones to the silver and gray ones.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif but i gave it to my sister with a 12" cvr so its been around a while.

My first car back in '91 was a '79 Chrysler Newport with just an AM/FM radio and front dash speakers from the factory. I had one of those cheap-ass cassette decks installed (i.e.- Spark-O-Matic) along with a pair of equally chintzy surface mount speakers (the kind in the ported plastic housings with a 5.25" mid and a 1/2" tweeter) fitted to the rear deck. Total cost was $55 for the tape deck and $30 for the speakers.

It sounded okay.... for a dying wildebeest. But hey, I was a broke 16 year old and it was my first "system". Was still much better than the oem crap it replaced.

1. Paying a local shop to install my new Rainbow SLC.

2. Not changing location of the crossovers when installer put them into bottom of door panel.

3. Letting the same installer cut the plastic door panel to mount new speakers.

4. Dark night + pos and neg wiring = blown fuses.

5. Not mounting my box to a MDF board in my car = broken RCA jack.

6. Spending ~400 on a MTX 7500 + box + Crunch PZI 1000.1 amplifier.

My worst car audio mistake was getting into it in the first place. Ever since I started, I've yet to have $$$ in my bank account //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
