window tinting

All this was taken from http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html

I recommend that you look at the violation codes. Just scroll half way on the page and click on the state you live in it should look like this:

A to H I to M N to O P to W

There are some harsh laws so check them out for your state before doing any tinting.

These laws may not be current and are often enforced differently by different PD's. In all cases, refer to you local authority for enforcement policies, current laws, rules or regulations. Your current state law is the final authority, not this website! The numbers represent the percentage of light transmitted through the tinted glass, so the lower the number, the darker the film allowed. Generally the films are sold as 5%(limo), 20%(dark), 35%(medium), 50%(light).

S.U.V.s often have different regulations, which are not listed here.

I had mine done, everything but the windshield, 20% and can't imagine any darker. I think it looks lame when the rear windows are darker than the fronts anyway. The guy that did mine told me if you are in traffic and see a cop pull up, open the opposite window, or the sunroof. this usually lets in enough light to make your windows look legal. Given that he is hispanic, and drives a BMW 5-series, lowered with 19's, in OR, he probably has experience with gettin jacked up by the man. Has worked so far. Anyway, it's only about $250 to get it done and get a warranty, I'd pay.

Thats not right, at least not for louisiana. I use Madico Tint the Onyx Line is the best. Been using it for years. The guy who owned the shop I worked at has used it for close to 17 years. Its good stuff.

i will be tinting the windows in the saturn next summer, and over the winter i hope to get some rims\tires for christmas.
im planning on 5% on the back windows (sedan). and whatever is legal on the driver\passanger and rear glass. i will then be painting the drip guards that go around the top of the door sils gloss black to match the rest of the door trim, and the rims are going to be similar to these

F2GM_5.jpg

here is the question

what is the best kind of tint in can use? i dont want it to get dull quickly, i dont want it to be a huge pain in the ass. durability and longevity are the main concerns here.

anybody do tint often? and if so - whats the kind you would put on your car? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
love the wheels, clean!!

about tinting, i would pay someone to do it.....if you have never done it before.

at the top of this page it says:

These laws may not be current and are often enforced differently by different PD's. In all cases, refer to you local authority for enforcement policies, current laws, rules or regulations. Your current state law is the final authority, not this website! The numbers represent the percentage of light transmitted through the tinted glass, so the lower the number, the darker the film allowed. Generally the films are sold as 5%(limo), 20%(dark), 35%(medium), 50%(light).

S.U.V.s often have different regulations, which are not listed here.

those tinting laws above^ arent correct as of todays standards. i believe those were the tint limits that applied on year 2001-2003?

CA law is:

front: NONE

rear: any (just no reflective/mirror tint)

front windshield: none, except a 3" banner strip on top
