By grounds I ment the ground at your amp, and also the Neg Battery terminal. (which is ground for the whole car). Did you try running a temp. remote turn on from your battery?

Oh yeah the constant lead should only be temporary, as it will keep your amp on at all times, and will drain your batt.

Try running a constant on lead from your battery to the remote turn on to your amp. If your remote lead from the HU is fused you might want to check that fuse. Along with all the other fuses with your amp wiring kit. Make sure your grounds are clean and tight.

Any body else on the Fuse Problem?? I emailed Directed, but they haven't responded yet. I would like to finish the install. 10 amps is a big difference, and I dont want to 'doorstop' my amp.

Alpines Model MRP-F240 is 9x10, and their MRP-T220 looks smaller. But still might be alittle big for ya.

Yeah 4 gage is what I'm going to use. But I'm still not sure about the fuse situation. BTW, that amp is bigger then I thought. I was a little worried when I UPS dropped of the box, it was HUGE, but alot of it was packing materials. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a hell of a time finding...

My Orion 7005 arrived today! Its a refurb but hopefully things are in working order. Theres a couple things I've noticed. 1) The manual (downloaded from http://www.directed.com) says that the amp uses a 70 Amp MAXI Fuse, But the Amp has a 80 Amp fuse installed, with an extra 80 in the box...

Has any one tried to use a glass protective film? I remember seeing something about some on a TV show were a professional thief breaks into a house. And they applied this film to keep the glass from completely breaking, kindof like this stuff...

BUT, when your hooking up your AMP, you should do the Ground first, so if you accidently hit the amps case with some power it will travel to the ground, and not the internals of the amp.

It should be Neg first, like dave said if you hit the body of your car (or just about any metal) when disconnecting the Pos it will complete the circut and the full potential of the battery will be released through the wrench, usually welding it to the car, and severly burning your hand.

You could look into getting a 5 channel amp, so you can upgrade with a sub at some point. I'm getting an Orion 7005 which is: 4x50 @4ohm 4x100 @2ohm 1x150 @4ohm 1x300 @2ohm People say that it is underrated, but I havent heard it yet should be here Monday, whoohoo!

Great thread, hopefully I will start deadening soon, as the wife permits. I was thinking of getting RAAMAT BXT, and some of their closed cell foam.
