I just installed the Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X698 6x9's in my 95 Accord 4-door and they sound great. The mids and highs sound superb, and the bass really thumps. The only problem is that I can hear practically no basss up front. The mids and highs come through up to the front perfectly clean and clear. Sit in the back seat and the bass gives you a headache.

I get the same effect when I go to a place that displays speakers like Circuity City or Walmart; you get up close to one speaker and it sounds great and the bass comes right to ya thumpin' away. You back up a tad and get between two speakers and the bass seems to just disappear. What's with that? Why's it doing that in my car?

FYI - new to forum. Nice layout

My guess would be that the tweeter portion is blocking the forward direction of the lower freqs.

It may be that they do not have a strong midbass and you have to be slightly off axis to get the effect. In your car the accoustics are less than perfect and could be being obsorbed or diffused with anything from road noise to being drowned out by the highs. Your seats and the position of your legs may be factors as well..Coaxials are very difficult to work with as well if you are going for good staging and imaging. This is just something to think about.. without seeing and hearing the car I cannot make any suggestions as to how you might remedy the problem.. Zane may have something to say though.

It had nothing to do with the tweaters or axis, it was phasing out. I switched the wiring on both and it fixed the problem.
