I need a new amp for my 10" SX so I have been looking at the PIC1.900D, but I've been searching and I can't find out if it is rated at 12.5V or 14.4V. I want to give my SX 1000w rms can I do that with the 900D. I've been looking at the Kenwood eXcelon KAC-X812D also but I couldn't find many opinions on that either.

thanks

I actually run the PIC2000D, I love the amp. I beleive it is rated at 14.4v. Not sure about the 1000rms with the 900d. Why not go a little bigger and get the PIC1500D?

I just e-mailed soundstream's tech support and they told the PIC1.900D is rated at 13.8V. Is their a way for me to calculate the power at 14.4V.

yes, ohm's law.

P = V x I

900W = 13.8V x I

I = 65.22 Amps

This is the current the amp would have to put out for 900W @ 13.8V

again using P = V x I

P = 14.4V x 65.22A

P = 939W

so you'll I believe you'll be getting about 40W more than rated, but of course that's only if you have a sufficiently strong electrical system to keep up a steady 14.4V and provide enough current.

(someone please correct me if this calculation is incorrect)

hahaha, EE student doesn't know ohm's law //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

maybe you're a freshman. if you haven't had physics II yet i'll let it slide //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
