Vehicle manufacturers don't increase electrical wire size based on the assumption .09% of the consumer base wants it. The vehicles electrical system works perfectly fine for it's intended purpose. It really has nothing to do with cost effectiveness or workability... Sheez

It's personal preference really. Does your HU have the EQ settings you require? most higher end units do, some even have the capability to run active. It's just a matter of what you require. If you require more than your HU can provide then run a separate EQ. Personally I have never needed one.
