Well, about 2 or 3 weeks ago i saw smoke coming from under my hood, I checked it out and realized my fuse holder inline from my alternator to battery was melting. I searched on here, and found it was likely due to a bad connection. It was a mini ANL holder with a 120 amp fuse from knukonceptz on 4 gauge wire. So I purchased a new one, and I looked at it today, and its start the same ****. Another bad connection? Should I try a different fuse holder? There seems to be a silver coating on the metal, so could it be that causing a bad connection? Any help is appreciated.

Im already on my second one. Im wondering if its the product Im using. I dont see how this can be user error. I have 3 other fuse holders and there all fine. Should I try a different holder?

anyone? Id like to be able to drive my car without having a high possibility of a fire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

use 0 guage wire.

Exactly Try some larger gauge wire. How may amps do you think 4 awg wire can handle, BUT I can't believe that you can buy a 125 or 150 amp fuse for a AFS Fuse holder. But When I worked in car audio shops I couldn't believe the amount of systems I seen that had 150 and 180 amp fuses on a 4 awg Anl fuse holders. It just seems like they were trying to get a whole lot out of very little.

alright, the wire itself isnt burning, the fuse holder is. the fuse isnt blown either.

the wire is black right where it connects to fuse holder, and the only part on the fuse holder thats burning is right around the metal of one terminal, the other one is ok. This is because of a bad connection, right? I thought this had nothing to do with the size wire, considering my alternator is 100 amps at best and 4 awg is rated at 140.

Thanks for the help, Im going to call around today to see if anyone has an anl fuse holder, ill give that a try.

#1-Try different holder and different wire

#2-Try running it somewhere different than where it is now. Something may be heating it up that you don't realize. Just change the location of the wire/holder.

If I can find my camera ill take a picture of the first fuse holder and this one. The inside on the other one was charred black, if that gives anyone a better understanding of whats happening.
