    PDX 4.100 or 2.150

i say go for the four channels as it'll give you more flexibility down the road if you were ever to go active or if you were going to bi-amp some components. but also that $65 will also give your more power when you bridge the amp into two channels, so in a sense, that $65 will not go to waste.

    SEAS tweets Pioneer crossover?

I would somewhat i agree as the seas tweets (and just like any other diy speaker) is better running active but honestly, does it hurt to try? i mean if you end up not liking them you can resell them and not lose much money at all. i would understand if the tweets you are thinking of getting...

    SEAS tweets Pioneer crossover?

i've heard both and own the alum and they are not harsh at all. they are more smooth than harsh but yes the textiles are much warmer and forgiving. these tweets are absolutely the best bang for the buck tweet out there. let us know when you get them in!

    SEAS tweets Pioneer crossover?

will it work? sure. will the seas sound best with the crossover point on the passive crossover? most likely not. but you can try it out and see if sounds good to you. i'm not sure which seas tweets you are talking about but i'm guessing its the seas neo tweeters which are like $30 a pop...

    Hmm...Rainbow says don't go active?

yea as stated a few times already, it's probably for warranty purposes since most users can't even comprehend the concept of going active. It shouldn't be a problem if you know what you are doing.

    Alpines CDA-9887 or W205?

yea if you don't add the h701 get the 9887. Actually if you are going with a passive comp set, you can save more money by just going with the 9885. the difference between the 9887 and 9885 is that the 9887 has the capability of going active and the 9885 does not.

    CA.com resident DIY specialist..

i say when you start a diy active setup start out slow and then slowly step to better drivers. its really hard to beat the seas ca18rnx + seas neo alum/silk combo. its cheap and you get a lot value for what you pay. that combo alone will be only around $200. you can then spend the rest on a...

how far away can x-overs be from speakers

like i said, place them wherever is most convenient for you. it does not matter. absolutely nothing wrong with placing crossovers in your trunk. you will not lose any signal, why would you? crossovers do what they are suppose to do, filter frequencies and thats it.
